My Review:
While I absolutely love and adore Jim Carrey's comic genius insanity. I watched Mr. Popper's Penguins when it premiered on FXX the other night. This unfortunately wasn't his finest, it actually wasn't the usual Jim Carreyesk movie. Which is rather unlike him considering I have seen all movies he's ever done and he's always been outrageously crazed in all but his earliest movies.
I will give the cast credit there were a couple of laugh out loud scenes that gave me a real belly laugh. But, it wasn't the normal to which I am used to. The gut busting laughing until you cry. I would say I loved this movie but I didn't I hate to admit. Mr. Carry is a fine actor to which I enjoy immensely and I look forward to seeing many more movies from him and I do hope his next movie is the old slap happy mock anyone and anything character traits that I am used to.
This just wasn't one of those times. But I will say on a good note. The Casting was well done.
